The race for fancy electric vehicles with the longest range is heating up, and this week Lucid Motors confirmed its high-end Lucid Air received an official EPA rating of 520 miles per charge. For those keeping track, that’s over 100 miles further than the longest-range Tesla.

That being said, the 520-mile rating only applies to the outrageously priced 2022 Lucid Air Dream Edition, which comes with 19-inch wheels and several upgrades at an eye-watering $169,000. There’s also a cheaper model with 133 less horsepower that only gets 516 miles per charge, which is still further than most EVs on the road today.

Either way, this is a big win for the company as it aims to get vehicles on the road in 2022 and start competing with the likes of Tesla, Audi, and others. In addition, Lucid says it now has the highest MPGe ratings for the EPA’s Large vehicle class, with the Air and Grand Touring with 19-inch wheels, rated at 130 MPGe in the city, or around 132 MPGe on highways.

The EPA also rated Lucid’s other trim models for the upcoming 2022 Lucid Air. Those ratings come in at 481 miles for the Dream Edition with 21-inch wheels, 471 for the Dream Edition Performance, and as we said above, 516 miles per charge for the Lucid Air Grand Touring model.

Keep in mind that just like your mileage can vary on a gas vehicle, mileage can differ for several various reasons on electric vehicles. Still, getting that kind of mileage in the city or on long road trips makes the expensive Lucid Air an exciting vehicle.

Last but not least, if the $170k price tag is too high for you, Lucid plans to release a more affordable base model later next year, starting at around $77,400.
